Civitavecchia is the main port serving Rome and the starting point for this coastal journey. Located 70 km from the capital and 62 km from Fiumicino airport, the city connects travelers to the Tyrrhenian Sea. While often a transit point, Civitavecchia also offers a look at local life and maritime history.

Spend a full day sailing the Tyrrhenian Sea aboard a classic tall ship. Feel the wind fill the sails as you glide across open water. Relax by the pool, enjoy a book in the library, or try climbing the rigging under the crew’s guidance. On Royal Clipper, guests can also access a small onboard spa.

Amalfi is a historic town on Italy’s southern coast, once a powerful seafaring republic. Walk through its narrow streets and visit the Duomo, where the remains of St. Andrew rest. With steep cliffs, coastal views, and centuries-old buildings, Amalfi offers a unique mix of history and scenic beauty.

Sorrento stands above the Bay of Naples with views across to Mount Vesuvius. Its historic center features winding lanes and shaded piazzas. Optional excursions include Pompeii, where visitors can walk through ancient streets and see buildings frozen in time by the eruption of 79 AD.

Ponza is a peaceful island with pastel-colored houses and a lively harbor. The town remains mostly untouched by large tourism and is known for its relaxed charm. Fishing boats and yachts share the waterfront, and the streets are perfect for an easy stroll among cafés and small shops.

Return to Civitavecchia to conclude your cruise. You can continue your travels or return to Rome, just over an hour away. Whether you explore the port city or head inland, this marks the end of a refreshing journey along the Italian coast.
