Venice: A City Like No Other

Venice is a place that needs no introduction. Built on more than 100 small islands and crossed by a network of canals, it has been one of the most iconic cities in Europe for centuries. Once the capital of a maritime empire, Venice still impresses with its palaces, bridges and piazzas.

From St. Mark’s Basilica to the Grand Canal, the city offers more than enough for several days of exploration. Art, history, and atmosphere are everywhere in churches, museums, and quiet alleyways where the crowds fade away.

A City of Icons and Hidden Corners

The heart of Venice is St. Mark’s Square, framed by the Basilica, the Campanile bell tower and the Doge’s Palace. A short walk leads to the Rialto Bridge, lined with shops and always alive with activity. But Venice is not just about monuments. The magic lies in its rhythm – gondolas sliding through canals, quiet courtyards, little wine bars, and local life that still pulses beyond the tourist routes.

From the historic Ghetto to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, every visitor can find something unexpected that leaves a lasting impression.

A Major Port for Mediterranean Cruises

Venice is not just a destination – it is also one of the most important cruise ports in the Adriatic. Many luxury and small ship cruises begin or end here, including routes through Italy, Croatia and Greece. Some itineraries use Venice as a turnaround port, while others use it as a final highlight after exploring the islands and coastlines of the eastern Mediterranean.

The city is well-connected by air, with direct flights from across Europe and numerous major international hubs. That makes it easy to arrive or depart with minimal travel stress.

Arrive Early, Stay a Little Longer

We strongly recommend that cruise guests arrive in Venice at least a day before embarkation. It gives time to adjust, explore and enjoy the city without hurry. Likewise, if your cruise ends here, staying an extra night or two is a perfect way to extend your journey.

Even one quiet evening walk or a relaxed breakfast by a canal can be the highlight of your entire trip. Venice has that effect on people.
